Bill Duncan was a local hockey player who played with the Hamilton Tigers in 1914.  He became involved in curling upon his return to Sudbury and in the 1940's, foresaw the need to expand curling facilities to accommodate the number of participants and to keep the Nickel Belt area as a "spawning ground for national class curling".
