While not as large as some of the other communities within the City of Greater Sudbury, the Town of Coniston has played a significant role in the development of our city. What began as a small village comprised of a few settlers rapidly grew to become an important mining community that once rivaled Copper Cliff. With the establishment of a local smelter by the Mond Nickel Company, the village grew to contain businesses, schools, churches, and sporting facilities.
Today, Coniston's history is still deeply ingrained in the minds and spirits of its local residents.
