Neighborly Advice was published in 1922 by the Lydia E. Pinkham Medicine Company of Lynn Massachusetts.

In order to promote the company's product, the Lydia E. Pinkham company printed a series of booklets including testimonies from women around the world. The testimonies from the women who used the Lydia E. Pinkham medicines were a large part of all the Pinkham publications. They provide us with hints about the lives of women in the first part of the Twentieth Century. The terms and language in the text show us just how much our lives have changed in the ensuing ninety years.

For your convenience, a lexicon of explanations and definitions is included at the back of the publication.

This publication has been produced from a copy which is part of the Anderson Farm Museum collection of the City of Greater Sudbury Heritage Museums.

Revenues from this publicaton help support the operations of the museums system in the City of Greater Sudbury.

About Lydia E. Pinkham:

Lydia Pinkham was born in 1819 in Lynn, Massachusetts, USA. Like many women of her time Lydia brewed her own home remedies for her family. In the 1870s, as much for a wish to help all women, as a result of economic conditions Lydia entered the public market. From brewing her remedies on her kithcen stove Lydia's business grew to include factories in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
