Skead's skating rink has been used for skating, hockey, and broomball since 1967. It is located below the Skead Seniors building and was previously maintained by local volunteers who cleaned, supervised, and flooded the rink.

On September 27, 1971, residents of Skead suggested that the skating rink be moved beside the new Community Centre on the highway. While plans were under way to arrange this relocation, it was discovered that the water supply in the area was not adequate enough to properly flood the rink. As a result, the rink was not moved and it still remains on its original location today.

In 1997, the Skead Recreational Committee replaced the boards around the rink and paved the existing surface to enable people to use the rink during the summer months. Today, the skating rink is used for in-line skating, skateboarding, and rollerblading in the summer and continues to serve as the community rink in the winter.
