These advertising cards for Darwin's Limited of Montreal were used in the Michaud and Co. Drugs and Stationery Etc. Store in Coniston in the mid 1920s. Many small stores would bring in these kinds of cards to be able to offer a larger selection to their customers without actually having the items on hand. These prices represent the upper end of the mail order market. Coniston was the headquarters for the Canadian branch of the Mond Mining Company and would have been home to the company executives and their wives. The cards were donated to Heritage Museums from the estate of Bill Telfer. For a comprehensive look at the mail order industry in Canada, visit the Canadian Museum of Civilization website.
